Comments:
This 1980 Yamaha SG1000 is a highly regarded, Japanese-made solid body electric guitar, first introduced in 1976 alongside the flagship SG2000 model, as a premium alternative to American classics like the Gibson Les Paul. The SG series quickly gained a cult following and was used by notable artists such as Bob Marley and Mick Jones of Foreigner. A notable feature of the SG1000 was its innovative electronics, including the "bi-sound" system (push/push tone pots for coil-tapping the humbuckers) and a tone bypass circuit that provides a brighter sound when controls are set to 10. These guitars are renowned for their exceptional build quality, crafted by master luthiers at the Yamaha Music Craft workshop in Hamamatsu, Japan, often considered to rival or surpass their American competitors of the era.
