It is a premium instrument designed as Yamaha's high-quality take on the classic Gibson ES-335 design. The guitar is finished in a rich, gloss poly "Brown" stain, which can appear similar to walnut or a deep burgundy. It features a symmetrical double-cutaway body construction with a solid center block to reduce feedback and enhance sustain, distinguishing it from fully hollow instruments. The SA-1000 model is noted for its high-end appointments, including a set mahogany neck and a smooth, dark ebony fingerboard, which provides a premium feel and contributes to the guitar's clear, rich tone. The instrument is equipped with two covered Alnico 2 humbucker pickups, known for their "PAF" style sound, delivering versatile tones suitable for jazz, blues, and rock genres.
