This cabinet’s lineage began in 1992 as the companion to Eddie Van Halen’s signature 5150 amplifier series. After Peavey and Van Halen parted ways in 2004, Peavey rebranded the series as the 6505 (named to celebrate Peavey's 40th anniversary from 1965 to 2005). While the name changed, the cabinet’s internal "recipe"—including the specific wood and speaker voicing—remained virtually identical to the original 1992 design. It is widely considered the "industry standard" for high-gain rock and metal due to its Sheffield 1200 speakers, which were specifically voiced to mimic the sound of Eddie Van Halen’s favorite "broken-in" vintage speakers.
