The OM-21 was first introduced in 1993, making this 1995 model one of the earliest examples of this now-staple model. The "OM" body shape actually dates back to 1929, but it was discontinued for decades before being revived in the 1980s and 90s. The OM-21 was supposed to be a more affordable, understated alternative to the OM-28, featuring the same high-quality tonewoods (Sitka spruce and Rosewood) but with simpler "Style 21" appointments like tortoise-colored binding instead of herringbone. It is highly regarded for its 25.4" scale length, which provides more string tension and "snap" compared to the shorter-scale 000-28.
