Comments:
The D-35 was primarily created to efficiently use smaller pieces of premium East Indian rosewood that were unsuitable for the D-28's two-piece back. The resulting three-piece back became the model's signature aesthetic feature. From its inception, the D-35 had a few key differences from the D-28: it featured a white bound neck and a lighter bracing pattern (1/4" braces vs the D-28's 5/16" braces). This lighter bracing gave the D-35 a slightly more responsive and bass-heavy sound compared to the D-28. By 1975, the D-35 had become a popular choice for musicians who wanted the classic rosewood sound but with slightly different cosmetic touches and a unique sonic character. The non-scalloped bracing was standard for the era, leading to a robust, durable instrument.
