This Martin CTM 000-28JP2 was manufactured in 2002 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. This model is part of a highly exclusive "Japan Custom" series specifically commissioned for the Japanese market, which is renowned for its preference for high-grade, traditional specifications. These instruments were typically ordered in small, limited batches (often as few as 10–25 units) by major Japanese distributors to provide features not available on standard production models. The "JP2" variant is specifically noted for its use of Premium Engelmann Spruce for the top, which is generally lighter and less stiff than Sitka spruce, resulting in a more complex, harmonically rich tone with a "broken-in" feel right out of the box. Since it is a CTM (Custom) model, it was built in the Martin Custom Shop, ensuring a higher level of hand-finishing and wood selection compared to the standard 000-28.
