Comments:
This 1969 Martin 000-18 is a highly sought-after model from the era just before significant changes in Martin's materials and manufacturing process. During the post-WWII years and through the 1960s, the 000-18 became a favorite for various folk, blues, and Celtic musicians, including artists like Ry Cooder and Martin Carthy, due to its comfortable size and balanced sound, ideal for fingerstyle playing and studio recording. 1969 is a significant year for Martin guitars as it marks the end of an era in some respects. By late 1969, Martin had exhausted its supply of Brazilian rosewood (used for the fingerboard and bridge on the 000-18), and subsequently switched to East Indian rosewood in the early 1970s. 1969 models still often featured Brazilian rosewood components, adding to their desirability.
