The D4 line was introduced by Guild in 1991 to serve as a high-value, entry-level workhorse to their premium acoustic category. Guitars built during this timeframe are widely cherished by collectors and musicians. The Westerly, Rhode Island plant was staffed by Guild's most famous generation of American luthiers before the facility eventually closed down its operations following a corporate buyout.
