Comments:
This 2023 Gibson SG '61 reissue is a faithful, vintage-styled electric guitar that embodies the original design, known for its light weight, fast-playing neck, and powerful humbucker tone. The SG model was first introduced in 1961 as an all-new, radical design to replace the Les Paul model, featuring a thin, solid mahogany body with deeply sculpted "devil horns" double cutaways. This reissue model is a direct return to those initial specs, featuring the smaller, 5-ply "teardrop" pickguard (as opposed to the larger "batwing" on later standards) and a neck joint that meets the body at the 22nd fret. The Pelham Blue finish was historically a custom color option often seen on higher-end Gibson models and Custom Shop reissues, making its inclusion in the core 2023 Standard series a notable release as part of the "Custom Color Series". The "DEMO" inscription engraved on the back of the headstock indicates the guitar was likely used for in-store displays, trade shows (like NAMM), or as a loaner to artists and representatives. The guitar displays close to no playing wear.
