The Les Paul Traditional line was introduced to offer players an instrument that felt and sounded like the highly regarded Les Paul Standards from the 1980s and 1990s, eschewing some of the modern modifications (like weight relief, push/pull pots, or locking tuners) that Gibson USA introduced on other models. This 2013 model was part of a revamp that emphasised this traditional, vintage-inspired design. A key feature of this guitar is the non-weight-relieved mahogany body, which contributes to a substantial feel and thick, rich tone with superb sustain, a quality often associated with earlier, iconic Les Pauls. The guitar is topped with a beautiful AA-grade figured maple top in a Caramel Burst finish. It also features the popular rounded late-'50s style neck profile, which is a bit chunkier than the '60s slim taper, providing a comfortable, classic feel for many players. The pickups are a pair of '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus humbuckers, known for delivering a warm, full-bodied, vintage PAF-style tone.
