Comments:
Introduced in August 2008, this Standard variant ran in production until it was revised again in 2012. Rather than traditional hand-wiring, the pots are mounted to a central Printed Circuit Board. Gibson outfitted the guitar with a smoked, transparent polycarbonate back control plate explicitly to showcase this technology. The Neutrik locking jack output ensures the guitar cable cannot be accidentally pulled out during live performances. Combined with locking Grover tuners and locking TonePros bridges, it was heavily marketed as an uncompromised stage tool. To combat the notorious weight of 1970s and 80s Les Pauls, this era utilized aggressive interior chambering, turning the solid body into a highly resonant, lighter instrument. This particular model weighs only 8.05 lbs.
