Comments:
The Les Paul Deluxe was first introduced in 1969, a significant moment as it was the first new Les Paul model name in 14 years. It was initially offered only in the gold top finish to use up a supply of P-90 pickup body routes, which Gibson repurposed to fit the new, smaller mini-humbucker pickups using adapter rings. This design was a key characteristic of the Deluxe, giving it a unique, brighter, and punchier tone compared to the full-size humbuckers of the Les Paul Standard. This 2023 model harks back to this era, as the Deluxe was immensely popular in its time, becoming the best-selling Les Paul model throughout the early 1970s. Notable musicians who have used the Les Paul Deluxe include Pete Townshend of The Who, Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy, and Jeff Lynne.
