Comments:
The J-165 EC is part of a line of acoustic guitars that captures the essence of Gibson's classic jumbo models (like the J-200 and J-185) but in a smaller, more manageable size, making it a "compact jumbo". The non-cutaway version (CJ-165) was first released in 2006, with the electric cutaway "EC” version being introduced around 2007. The name transitioned from CJ-165 EC to J-165 EC around 2010. These guitars are highly regarded by performing musicians because they offer the rich, voluminous sound associated with larger Gibson jumbos but are far more comfortable to play for extended periods, especially when seated. The onboard Fishman Aura Pro pickup system, standard in these models, uses "Aura Acoustic Imaging Technology" to blend the under-saddle pickup signal with digital sound images of the guitar recorded with high-end studio microphones, providing a professional, natural-sounding amplification for live use.
