Comments:
The Gibson Dove was introduced in 1962, following the success of the Gibson Hummingbird, as a square-shouldered acoustic dreadnought guitar known for its distinctive bright and powerful tone derived from its solid Sitka spruce top and maple back and sides. Distinguished by its ornate aesthetic features, including a large engraved pickguard with a dove motif, mother-of-pearl parallelogram fingerboard inlays, and dove inlays on the "mustache" bridge, the Dove quickly became an iconic instrument. Early models featured a controversial adjustable metal bridge that was later replaced with a traditional fixed bridge in the late 1960s to improve tone. Since 1992, the Dove has been built in the Gibson acoustic factory in Bozeman, Montana, where modern production adheres to classic designs, maintaining its legacy as a favorite among musicians such as Elvis Presley and Tom Petty.
