Comments:
The Southern Jumbo (SJ) was originally introduced in 1942 as a more "deluxe" version of the popular but plain J-45 model. This "Banner" reissue specifically pays tribute to the World War II era (1942–1945), distinguished by the golden banner on the headstock that famously states: "Only a Gibson is Good Enough”. The top is made of Adirondack Red Spruce that has been "baked" (torrefied) to mimic the cellular structure and dried-out response of a 1940s vintage instrument. To maintain historical accuracy, Gibson also uses hot hide glue for the top bracing and neck joint, which provides a more efficient energy transfer than modern synthetic glues. The "Demo" engraving on the back of the headstock means the guitar was destined for artist demonstration / promotional purposes.
