The "Crafted in Japan" (CIJ) Fender era ran from the late 1990s through the mid-to-late 2000s, producing instruments primarily for the Japanese domestic market. These guitars are highly regarded by enthusiasts for their exceptional build quality, attention to vintage detail, and consistency, often considered a great value compared to contemporary American Fenders. This TL62-65 US is a specific vintage reissue model that meticulously recreated the look and feel of a 1962 Telecaster. A key feature of the "US" designation in this series was the use of genuine Fender USA pickups (typically Vintage-Style Tele single-coils or Texas Specials) from the factory. This combination of Japanese craftsmanship and American electronics was designed to deliver an authentic vintage tone and feel. This particular model was later equipped with a B5 Bigsby vibrato system. Fender Japan did manufacture some models with factory-installed Bigsby vibratos, but these were distinct models (e.g., TL62B-BIGS) which utilized a different, non-string-through bridge setup (often a Jazzmaster-style bridge plate) compatible with the Bigsby tailpiece.
