Fender Japan began production in the early 1980s and quickly gained a reputation for producing instruments that often exceeded the quality control of their American counterparts at the time. The '62 Reissue (PB62) model was one of their flagship offerings, aiming to faithfully recreate the look, feel, and sound of a 1962 Precision Bass. The PB62-500 featured a basswood body with Japanese-made vintage-style pickups and standard Japanese hardware (such as slotted bridge saddles and standard tuners). The sunburst finish on this model is typically a 3-tone sunburst, paired with a classic tortoiseshell pickguard. The bass is widely regarded as a solid, reliable workhorse with authentic vintage pedigree. This particular model was modified to allow for a bridge cover plate to be installed.
