The PB62-78US is a high-grade reissue of the iconic 1962 Precision Bass. Unlike standard Japanese reissues of the time, the "US" suffix in the model name indicates that this instrument was factory-equipped with Fender USA vintage pickups. Fender Japan began offering these high-spec reissues to provide players with a vintage-correct experience that surpassed the budget "standard" export models. The Old Candy Apple Red (OCR) finish is a specific vintage-inspired variation of Candy Apple Red. While traditional CAR was introduced by Fender in 1963, "Old" Candy Apple Red is designed to mimic the deeper, slightly more aged look of the original pre-CBS finishes, which utilized a silver undercoat rather than the gold undercoat used by CBS in the late 1960s.
