This instrument belongs to the Made in Japan Traditional series, which launched in late 2017 to replace the "Classic" series. It was designed to replicate the aesthetics and feel of the "golden era" of 1960s Fender instruments while utilising modern Japanese manufacturing precision. The Flamingo pink finish is one of several popular vintage-inspired colours that have seen a resurgence in Japanese reissue lines. Unlike many standard Fender models that use Alder, the MIJ Traditional series often uses Basswood for the body to achieve a balanced, lightweight resonance. This specific era of MIJ Fenders is highly regarded for its build quality, often considered by enthusiasts to be on par with or superior to Mexican-made or even some American-made models.
