HISTORY

David Gilmour, guitarist, singer, and songwriter of Pink Floyd, is universally regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the last century. His soaring, emotive playing defined the sound of albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall.

His original black Fender Stratocaster – known simply as the “Black Strat” – became his main instrument for decades of touring and recording, and is forever associated with some of the most iconic guitar tones ever committed to record.

The Fender Custom Shop Signature Series Stratocaster was designed in close collaboration with Gilmour and his longtime technician, Phil Taylor, to recreate the exact look, feel, and sound of the Black Strat as it was in its most famous configuration.
