This PB70-70US Precision Bass is a premium, domestic-market Japanese reissue of a 1970 American Fender Precision Bass, crafted at a time when Japanese production quality rivalled or exceeded standard US factory outputs. While historical mid-70s American Fenders often featured a thinner veneer rosewood fretboard, Fender Japan chose to construct these with a thick, high-quality slab rosewood fretboard. The US suffix indicates the bass came factory-equipped from Japan with premium, Fender USA-made split-coil pickups, offering a distinct upgrade in clarity and punch compared to standard Japanese domestic electronics. True to the reissue era, the instrument features the large "CBS-era" bold black block logo on the headstock, a 3-ply black pickguard, and a factory-fitted bass-side thumb rest (finger rest) mounted below the G-string.
