Comments:

The Dobro DM33 is a chrome-plated, bell-brass body, single-cone resonator guitar whose history is primarily tied to the post-war era of the Dobro brand under OMI (Original Musical Instrument Company) and later, Gibson. While the original Dobro company was founded by the Dopyera brothers in 1928, the specific DM33 model first appeared when OMI manufactured them in the 1970s. Gibson acquired the company in 1993 and continued the production of the DM33, moving operations to Nashville in 1998. The model was known for featuring various sand-blasted graphic designs on the back, such as the "California Girl" or "Hawaiian" motifs, and uniquely incorporated a removable soundwell ring, allowing players to swap between a National-style biscuit bridge setup (standard on the DM33) and a traditional Dobro spider bridge system. Production of the DM33 model was eventually discontinued around 2005, although we believe this particular model to have been built specifically for NAMM 2012.
