It was manufactured in the Yamaha factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, as a high-end instrument primarily for the domestic market, not a budget export model. The guitar features two early, low-output humbucker pickups, which were considered innovative for being \"hum-free\" at the time. It includes a \"balancer\" or \"mike balancer\" control knob in addition to the master volume and tone knobs, allowing players to blend the output of the two pickups for a wide range of tones.
