Comments:
First introduced in 1963, the D40 was originally nicknamed the "Bluegrass Jubilee". It was specifically designed to compete with iconic mahogany dreadnoughts like the Martin D-18, aiming to give acoustic musicians a powerful, stage-ready tool. Folk icon Richie Havens famously played a Guild D40 on stage during his historic opening performance of "Freedom" at the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Other legendary artists of the era, such as Paul Simon and John Denver, heavily relied on Guild guitars for their balance and projection.
