Despite being marketed as a solidbody, the Silver Jet is a chambered guitar. It consists of a mahogany body with large routed-out internal cavities and a pressed laminate maple top. This construction gives it a resonant, \"semi-hollow\" acoustic character and keeps the weight low. This 1957 model with serial #26243 sits right in the classic era before Gretsch switched to Filter'Tron humbuckers in 1958.
