Comments:

The Gibson Explorer was first introduced in 1958 with a radical, futuristic body design, alongside the Flying V and the yet-unreleased Moderne. The initial run was a commercial failure, and the model was discontinued by 1963. The guitar found its niche in the 1970s and 1980s as hard rock and heavy metal musicians embraced its aggressive aesthetics and powerful sound, leading Gibson to reissue the model in 1976 due to high demand. This specific model is a modern 70s reissue, designed to capture the essence of the models that became iconic in the hard rock era. These reissues typically feature specific period-correct details like the '70s Tribute humbucker pickups and a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Reviewers and players often praise these instruments for their excellent build quality, sustain, and the authentic, "hot-rodded vintage" tone of the pickups.
