Comments:
By the early 1970s, Fender (under CBS ownership) had implemented several cost-saving and functional changes, such as the transition from a 4-bolt to a 3-bolt neck plate with a "Micro-Tilt" adjustment for neck angle. This specific period is known for the "Bullet" truss rod (a nut that protrudes from the headstock) and the iconic Large Headstock design, which was originally introduced in late 1965 to accommodate a larger Fender logo. The 3-Tone Sunburst finish on this guitar was applied over a polyurethane base coat, which was thicker and more durable than the nitrocellulose used in the 1950s.
