Comments:
This Epiphone Korina Flying V is part of a limited edition run that pays homage to the ultra-rare 1958 model, one of the most sought-after and expensive vintage guitars around. The original run was very limited (around 98 units) and was considered a "space-age" design far ahead of its time, making surviving examples extremely rare and valuable today. Epiphone has produced various versions of the Flying V over the years, with the Korina model becoming a mainstay in its lineup since its reintroduction in 1986. This specific guitar is a Limited Edition model from 2016, designed to be a historically accurate replica in terms of shape, size, and use of Korina (also known as African Limba) wood for both the body and neck. Korina is prized for its light weight and tonal properties, which are similar to mahogany but with an added high-end sparkle. This reissue run is notable for its high-quality, vintage-inspired features at an accessible price point, including a long neck tenon, gold hardware, and, in some variations, genuine Gibson Burstbucker pickups and high-end electronics like CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors.
