Frequently asked questions

Why sell with Denmark Street Guitars?

Denmark Street Guitars, based in Hanks, is the UK’s leading dealer in vintage instruments. Our reputation is global, and we buy and sell to over 30 different countries annually.. We try to make the process as simple as possible, from valuation to you receiving payment. We offer realistic market pricing so that your items sell, rather than just sitting on the shelf, and market new products regularly to our huge database of subscribers. We pride ourselves on communicating with our clients throughout the process so they feel informed, and we welcome their return custom both as sellers and as buyers.

What is the process?

Customers can fill in the form above with details of the instrument they are looking to sell or have valued. Upload approx 8-10 photographs detailing the condition both back and front, any serial numbers, damage, electronics, any changed parts and any supporting documentation. This will allow us to provide an accurate estimate. We will then contact you to discuss either a direct purchase, valuation or consignment sale (normally within 24 hours), and arrange either personal collection, drop off or collection via one of our worldwide freight partners.Once we have the instrument in our possession and the condition and authenticity are verified, we will pay for the instrument via BACS, Wire Transfer, PayPal or Cash.

How much will I get or be expected to pay in commission?

Commission sales are paid at 20% of our mutually agreed sale price. For certain rare or prestige items we are happy to consider a reduced fee once you have received our offer. Please note that for purchases, whilst your own research may lead you to value your items higher than our offer to you, we have to incur our own costs of marketing, promotion and our store. We would sell your items for more than we have paid you for them.

Can I part exchange my old guitar for a new one?

Yes! We love to work with musicians and collectors to develop their collections, and we are happy to part exchange instruments against our stock. Please contact us via email to discuss sales@londonvintageguitars.com.

Do we buy full collections?

Denmark Street Guitars are specialists in buying full collections both domestically and abroad. We work with collectors, players and families to place their instruments with new owners. We are also specialists in selling the collections of famed musicians and artists and have worked with the likes of Steve Howe, Noel Gallagher, John Squire, Tony Iommi, Guns ’n’ Roses, Robert Fripp and many more to sell on former tour equipment. If you would like further details on this, please email sales@londonvintageguitars.com.

When will I get my money?

Commission sales are paid once the UK statutory 14 day returns period, according to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, has elapsed. At that point we will pay you by whatever means you choose, from BACS, Wire Transfer, Paypal or Cash.
